{p,h,f,r} Dreary fog edition

{pretty}
My mom gave Sean and I a gift card for Christmas and we used it to pick out new bedding for our bed. I love the color. It almost perfectly matches the color in our bathroom. It is such a mood lifter, even with all the dreary fog outside and in.

{happy}
BigBoy was very happy to see his Kitchen Madonna finally framed and hanging in a place of honor. It's not in the kitchen, but he doesn't mind. Our kitchen has very limited wall space so I thought our bedroom a better spot for it.

{funny}

Funny... I was so anxious to get the Christmas decorations packed away this year but I just can't bring myself to pack this beautiful nativity set away. Yes, it's the set I found on Etsy and drooled over. It made a perfect family Christmas gift this year. It came all the way from Cork, Ireland packed with such care. I just can't seem to bring myself to put them back in the box. Christmas all year anyone?

{real}
Cupcake was enjoying her Daddy's raw banana ice cream so much I just had to snap a picture. It's basically frozen bananas, cocoa powder and a scoop of peanut butter all blended together (but don't use a blender, a food processor works best). It was his breakfast this morning and he ate it at home today because he was one of several hundred people who were laid off yesterday. I think that warrants ice cream for breakfast, don't you? I know many other people have been through this kind of situation and I take comfort in that. This is our first time. (Well, there was one other lay off but that was because the company was closing it's facility and he had a 6 month heads up that it was imminent. That didn't feel like this.)

St. Joseph, pray for us.
St. Anthony, pray for us.
St. Cajetan, pray for us.
St. Homobonus, pray for us…
and for all who are seeking employment.

  2. Your pictures are beautiful. I remember the first time you made the kitchen Madonnas. Big Boy's is beautiful.

    Prayers to Our heavenly Madonna for a quick job hunt. I'm really sorry to hear that news.

    PS I have framed images of the Nativity (Christmas cards...so beautiful) why not the real thing?

  3. I am so sorry to hear about your husband's job. I remember receiving that news very well and the best way I could describe it is having the floor fall out from under us. And yet....three years later I can see God's hand in all of it! Prayers for all of you as you wait for His plan to unfold before you.

  4. Charlotte your family will most definately be in my prayers. A year ago, we were in your shoes and it was the scariest thing we've gone through as a family. But, God is SO faithful and SO good. So very, very much good has come from that hard time...oh man now I'm crying...and I would never take it back. I pray that God's peace and grace will be with you during this time, and that you'll reach out to grab them, hold on, and see the fruit that will be born from this hard time.
    Much love. I am seriously praying for you.

  5. Charlotte, you are all in our prayers. When this happened to Pete (with zero warning), we also asked St. Anthony to FIND Pete a job, he did.
    I love the new bedding, it is beautiful!

  10. That nativity set is beautiful and so is the Kitchen Madonna. Praying that your husband finds a new job quickly. I sent you and email regarding that since the company that my husband works for has an office that I think is near you.

  11. A friend of mine had a "nativity bathroom" once upon a time. The walls were darkish blue, with starry garland around the ceiling, and a nativity set on the sink. :) It was really cute.

    So sorry about the lay off. My husband was unemployed allll summer. We are still recovering! Our first time too...

  13. I was so sorry to read about your husband's layoff. I wish I could give you a hug. You are all such a strong family and through your faith and the prayers of family and friends, you will make it through this. You will. St. Joseph, pray for us!

    Your bedding is so lovely, my favorite color. We have had a blue bedroom and bathroom since we moved here, and I just love it. Very soothing to the soul I think.

    The Kitchen Madonna looks even prettier framed and hanging for all to see. He certainly did do a wonderful job.

    And the Nativity set. I love it! Leave it up…especially now. It'll carry you through this storm. Jesus, I trust in you!
