{pretty}
Pretty yarn! It's Tosh Vintage Kelp.

Sunshine is so excited to be a test knitter for a dear friend's newly written sweater pattern. She so desperately wants to make "real things". She's been making socks for years now and while she still enjoys that, she longs to one day throw on a handmade sweater knit by her own hands.
She's tried a couple of times on her own without any guidance and learned a lot about the importance of sizing and gauge and proper measuring. She knows so much more now... so I'm excited for her and proud of her taking on this project! Since I consider this part of her education, we made the investment in a good quality yarn and she will be taking her "job" very seriously. I told her I plan on using her sweater for Cupcake this fall! If this works, I think it just might be time for her to try again with something she could wear! Can you hear her SQUEEing as she read this?

{happy}
 Sixteen cups of homemade chicken stock in my freezer...
Followed by homemade granola the next day. Fall cooking makes me very happy!

{funny}
This girl right here... she cracks me up! She also talks constantly, refuses to let anyone else read her a story and insists on trying to drag me everywhere she wants to go... but she makes me laugh.

{real}
We do this about 27 times every day...
and we haven't even started potty training yet. Oy vey.

  1. Okay, I clicked over because of the yummy yarn pic, but I'm commenting because of the even yummier cutie singing in the video. LOVE her! xoxo

  3. Sunshine's yarn is just gorgeous! (did y'all notice that it matches Cupcake's shirt in the hat photos perfectly? :))

    Oh, and the video of Cupcake is so incredibly adorable!

  4. Beautiful yarn and hooray for Sunshine, how lovely to be a tester for a pattern! All your Fall baking looks scrumptious now if the Texas weather would check the calendar (although I hear it will be cooler on Saturday)

  5. Beautiful family and can't wait to see Sunshine's final work (if she'll share!). The granola looks yummy -- can you share? Something the kids can make? They are in a cranberry mode right now so it would be perfect!

    1. I use Barbara's fabulous recipe for Brown Sugar Granola with only a few changes. No substitute nuts for the coconut and add 1/2 tsp coconut extract to the vanilla. Like Barbara, I sprinkle on the dried cranberries/raisins after baking when it's still warm. I have found that if you only stir it once while baking you get bigger clumps. My kids love the clumps!
