Books make wonderful gifts! We always send a book to extended family for Christmas and we are always so excited to get a new book or two for ourselves. I wanted to post about these before Christmas but I also wanted to keep them a surprise for the children.
I don't get a lot of questions on my blog but one that I do get somewhat consistently is about what books my kids are reading. We love giving each child a stack of books for Christmas. I usually start collecting them over the summer and in years past, their stacks have included both new and used copies. This year, they each received nine books which was quite a few for each child. Although, apparently there is no such thing as too many books because they are already excitedly planning our New Year's Eve trip to Barnes and Noble to spend the gift cards they received from grandparents. A little over half of their Christmas books from us came from a sizeable credit I had with Sacred Hearts Books and Gifts. Here are the books each child received.

Oh amazing! I don't think I would have the patience to wait that long to give out the books. I get so excited about them myself!
ReplyDeleteAmy, the only way I can hang on to them so long is because my kids have told me that their stack of books for Christmas is one of their most favorite things!
DeleteThank you so much for sharing these! I have put several on hold at the library. I am still exploring your blog but I am wondering if off-hand you would have any suggestions for a 7 year old as far as series go. We're having a hard time latching on to a series. My husband has been reading The Hobbit aloud to our boys at night, and that is definitely a genre which captivates our eldest. I'd love any recommendations, thanks again and Merry Christmas to you and yours, happy reading!
ReplyDeleteMy 8 year old received the entire series of The Knight's Tales by Gerald Morris and really loves them. Those are the Sir Givret, Sir Balin, etc.. books that you see in the picture labeled BigBoy. He says they are incredibly funny.
DeleteWhat a fun post, Charlotte! Books are an important part of Christmas gifts in our house too. I was recently telling my kids how when they were younger (and there was fewer of them)(and we didn't have so many children's books) they'd get about a dozen books each. I see lots of familiar favorites in your piles, and Hobbitus Ille, Prairie Thief and Zita II were under our tree as well. Merry Christmas to all of your bibliophiles!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Blessed New Year, Charlotte and fam! Thank you for the visuals...Photos are very helpful for visual learners, like me;) I've been meaning to tell you that Hank finally made it to the Abbey for the Immaculate Conception...He LOVED it! I guess I will have to be content to keep waiting....
