I'm just a little bit excited because I get to announce that my SIL, Erin, has self published her first book. This book was first read by The Professor and myself oh, maybe... SIX YEARS AGO! We still have the multi-colored, home printed copy (multi-colored because I ran out of black ink part of the way through) bound in a three ring binder with the original working title chicken scratched in black Sharpie on our shelf. (I liked that title and still think of it by that title, but I understand the need for a change.) Anyway, it looks much better nicely bound with an intriguing cover of stars, so suitable to a space adventure!
Erin was a voracious reader as a child and a lover of science fiction then and even now. She knows how lacking this niche market is for age appropriate material for younger kids (5th grade and up although BigBoy is reading it right now). Kids who just want a good, clean adventure story with characters they can relate to and a unknown world they can imagine and explore will enjoy this book. If you are so inclined, consider picking up a paperback copy for the sci-fi lover in your house or checking out the Kindle edition. It's an intriguing story that's well written and enjoyable for kids and grownups alike. My kids can't wait to read an advance copy of the second one!!! I promise, I am not saying that just because she's their aunt... but being family does have it's privileges!
P.S. You can read more about Erin's adventures in self publishing over at her fiction writing blog.
This sounds great! I'll have to order a copy for my boys! :)
