Look what Sarah did!

Seriously! Go look at the stunningly beautiful end of the year folders she made for her stunningly beautiful children! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? Sarah, get ready to be flattered all over the place. I'm thinking this idea is going to make the Pinterest rounds in a flash. I have always documented our school year, but it was just dull old pencil on paper documentation. Boring. But this... is a whole new ballgame. Brilliant idea! Work on mine commenced about 5 minutes after reading your post. Here are our covers:

  2. What a great idea. We start off our school year by taking photos and creating covers for their individual binders. Schoolwork automatically goes in the binders so no need to track down stuff. I'll start adding photos now of field trips & other projects. However, Sarah's idea via your post has now inspired me to ask them questions at the beginning of the school year about what they want to learn and accomplish. I'll put these in their binders at the beginning of the year -- and then we can compare them when we get to the end of the year. This way we'll have front & back covers too!

    1. I may or may not have been in a sleep deprived, jack hammer induced fit of mania about the time I read your post. Cupcake is teething and my neighbors started having their pool removed at 7:30am yesterday. I'm not sure if the rumbling in my head is real or just an echo at this point. :)

  4. Oh, my goodness, Charlotte. This is mega-AWESOMEblossom!!! I did not, in fact, see Sarah's post (yet). And to think that I almost hit "mark all as read" in my google reader this morning. Horror! You did such a cute job with this. Love the photos you chose of each child. Precious. And the fonts, too. Just wonderful. I'm going to give this a go myself, though I'm not sure if my photo editing software is capable. Well I'm just going to have to find out more about it…What did you use? Maybe Sarah has the info on her blog. I'm going to click over now. :)

    2. P.S. I have never really used photo editing before, only Picnik a little when it was still around. I found Pic Monkey very easy to understand.

  5. BTW, I just had to comment on how much our oldest boys have in common. My "Soldier" best book of last school year was The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict, hardest subject would also be Pre-Algebra, and favorite subject would be cursive handwriting practice. :) He also has brown hair and wears glasses. It's remarkable to me.

  6. I am loving these and cannot wait to try my hand at a few. What a coincidence! I have a few girls who need end-of-year folders! Love it when it works out like that.

I am EXCEEDINGLY fond of PicMonkey, btw--use it for all my photo editing because it is fast, fun & easy and that is very much where I need to be these days.

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous folders, Charlotte. They turned out awesome.

I basically haven't gotten anything done all day, working on the covers for my kids. It's been so much fun!! I love how yours turned out. They are all perfect! Won't these make such special keepsakes for the kids?! :)

  8. I love these too! I am going to have to check out PicMonkey. By the way, my middle daughter is appalled that anyone would even consider WANTING to learn Latin.
