The slippers were set by the fireplace with care...
... in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.
Daddy will get to enjoy Cupcake's tiny St. Nicholas. I am still eating dairy free. |
Not a creature was stirring except this little mouse...
Someone forgot to tell her that St. Nick doesn't come until everyone's asleep.
He came!
St. Nicholas day books: The Animals Came Two By Two, My First Christmas, The Gift of the Magi, Francis Woke Up Early, and Joy To The World.
Peppermint cocoa with peppermint marshmallows...mmmmm!
A table full of St. Nicholases. Or is that St. Nikolai?
Still can't find a runner I like but I found the perfect thing to go in the middle which was looking a bit empty. This triptych was a gift from a sweet friend and it's patiently waiting to be opened on Christmas Day. There's still room for our Christ candle behind it.
Happy Feast of St. Nicholas, patron of children, bakers and thieves! May this good saint steal away all fear and frustration and stir up feelings of joy and peace leaving you with a childlike heart full of delight.
I'm such an awful mom. I couldn't remember just why I had to go to Target yesterday. I remembered last night when the kids sat down and watched the video on Advent Adventure and made a mental note to rummage for candy after they were in bed. I forgot and didn't think of it until 6:30 this morning which was too late since my oldest was already up and getting ready for school. Hope they don't mind too much when they find out that he came a little late. The kids were disappointed when they pointed out this morning that St. Nicholas didn't come. I think I'll use the baby who cried all day yesterday as my scapegoat.
ReplyDeleteKaren,
ReplyDeleteI think St. Nicholas would be so worried that he might disturb a baby who had cried all day and was finally getting some much needed rest that he wouldn't come in for fear of waking her. He might even come back later today when everyone was napping just check on her, being the patron of children, you know!
And I can't tell you the number of times the dog has scared the tooth fairy away until later in the day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Charlotte!!! Love the chocolate St. Nicks with mitre, crozier and all! I need to remember that for next year…I think I said that last year, lol. Where did you find the peppermint marshmallows? I looked in our local stores and couldn't find them! I knew they should have them, but were probably hiding them from me, lol. ;)
ReplyDeleteBlessed Feast Day to you and your family!
Kelly,
ReplyDeleteMy husband grabbed those a few weeks ago and we saved them. I hope they aren't sold out because I wanted to get more to put in our mint mocha fudge. It would have been either Target or Walmart. Those are the closest grocery stores we have.
What a joyous day! Lovely pictures (as always) capturing so well the delight of the children! And Karen, I agree that St. Nicholas most certainly does know how to work around new babies (and tired moms). Blessed feast day to you all!
ReplyDeleteHappy feast of St. Nicholas! What a great celebration!
ReplyDeleteWe had peppermint marshmallows for our Hot Cocoa too! I found ours at Walmart, and have been saving them too - though only for about a week or so. They should still have them!
That little mouse just melts my heart!
ReplyDeleteWhich, when you think about it, is a much better thing than melting my chocolate. She wouldn't touch my chocolate, would she?
That is so fun and cute!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, your little mouse and her slippers are beyond precious:) Looks like a delightful feast day with sweet faces pouring over fun new books. I am going to be on the lookout for peppermint marshmallows...Wonder if they would be gross if I froze some for next year? BTW, I bought our holy cards from the St. Nicholas Center. Have a blessed remainder of your day!
ReplyDeleteI love cupcakes little slippers, they're soooo cute! The cake came out great too.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to remember that bit about the dog/tooth fairy, I could have used that excuse a few weeks ago :)
Mint mocha fudge?!?!?!?! You'll *have* to post the recipe!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful Charlotte! Your children obviously enjoyed celebrating the Feast of St. Nicholas!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And such a cute little St. Nick for Cupcake!
