{pretty, happy, funny, real}

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~
with the lovely ladies at Like Mother, Like Daughter

{pretty}
 I picked up a 1/4 yard of some fabrics that I am considering using for a crib skirt. Once I made my decision (the white on black feathery pattern), I decided to use these swatches to make a door stop for Cupcake's room. This door never stays open on it's own and never has and the very corporate looking plastic stopper just wasn't cute at all. I used a combination of this pattern and this picture to come up with my own design. You can't tell from this angle, but the breast insert is made from the same fabric as the wings. It's filled with rice and tied closed. I'd like to find a little blue bead to use for an eye but I haven't wanted to go hunting through my craft closet out in the garage just yet.

{happy}

I finally found some more soft ecru colored yarn so I can make this dolly her other leg! I can't believe how hard I had to hunt for it. Now I'm very happy that my big kids can't hop her around like a peg-legged pirate anymore!

{funny}
I rarely post any status updates on FB. I use it mostly to leave comments for other people and keep up with certain friends who don't communicate any other way (you know who you are but you probably won't even read this). I posted this the other day when we were getting called two and three times a day!

What's weird is that ever since I posted it, they've stopped calling! Behold the power of FB!

{real}

According to my inbox this morning, I am beginning the third trimester of my pregnancy. It's just now starting to feel really real! This onesie was a gift for Sean on Father's Day. It had a cupcake on it! How could I pass it up?

Oh and today is the last day to participate in all the fun games over at the Virtual Baby Shower!

  2. Beautiful doorstop, though I think my kids would play with it! And, I'm the same about FB--check in but rarely post. Congrats on reaching the 3rd trimester, almost there!

  3. Guess who's assembling cupcakes right now?!!!

    Pray for me; pray for my sanity. I only have--what?--ten hours to make the deadline, and only a few of those hours include daylight.

    Are you praying?!

  4. Regarding the door that won't stay open...I mean, I KNOW you made a beautiful doorstop and all, so maybe you don't want to fix it...but if you DID, removing the pin(s) in the hinge(s) and banging it(them) with a hammer to slightly distort the shape will help keep it from freely swinging whichever way gravity takes it. Just so you know.

  5. Margaret,
    I'm praying for St. Zita to send you some kitchen angels! Don't you love that name... Zita? ;)

    Michelle,
    Practical, practical, practical! Where were you a couple days ago? Actually, I was telling another friend that I'm not going to sew the end, just leave it tied so that I can empty the rice someday and just stuff it.

  6. I miss Facebook sometimes but we had a really bad experience. I let my 8 and 5 year old answer the phone when those phone calls keep coming. I know it's kind of unfair because it is someone's job, but they aren't allowed to be mean, they generally just get the giggles and try to talk with a funny accent.

  7. Yelling " don't answer the phone it's the police" is a habit that could haunt you in the years to come... ;)

    I love all of your crafted goodness, even with just one leg your dolly was great!

    Blessings, Debbie
