Coming along...

Picture snippets from Cupcake's room!

I bought these Eeboo Fairies in the Garden Alphabet Cards about 5 years ago with an idea to put them in the girls' room because they were soooooo pretty! Admittedly, it was more my desire than theirs. They were a bit beyond the alphabet stage. I've hung on to them in hopes that I would get to use them someday... this is someday!

I found these tiny little painted canvases at Michael's two for a dollar and fell in love with the colors! My MIL has started all of her granddaughters on a tea cup collection and my girls really treasure their dainty little cups.

My inlaws gave us this hanging poster back when The Professor was a baby. His favorite picture was the one where "St. Michael whacks the devil!"  My MIL found them right before they went out of print, I think,  but I'm happy to see that they are available again. (If you scroll through the pictures on the Seton website, you will see the St. Michael picture.)

These black shelves were repurposed from the boys' room after we gave them a taller bookshelf. I plan to add pictures of her name saints on either side of the Blessed Mother statue, once we officially decide on a real name and know who those are.

This is a vinyl wall decal that is supposed to look like a painted design of birds and almond blossoms. (FYI... Hobby Lobby often has their vinyl decals for 50% off. This one came from Etsy.) I never intended to do a theme in her room. I don't really care for themes, but this pattern seemed to mimic the design of the curtains we chose and it made me think that if I ever was convinced to do a theme in a baby's room, birds (and blossoms) would be awfully cute!

Don't forget to head over to Jessica's for the Virtual Baby Shower. This is your last week to leave a comment and get a chance to win some of the amazing door prizes, decorate some cupcakes, guess the baby bloggers or join the baby pool! No gifts or makeup required!

  1. Hooray for "someday"!!

I, too, have those very same fairy alphabet cards waiting to be put up in my daughters room. All three of my girls share a room. They kinda have a princess, fairy, garden, butterfly/bug theme going in their room. lol. It's fun to combine stuff. :)

We have the My Jesus and I little book that the kids love. But I had no idea they had posters of the pictures! How, neat!

I think the room is coming along beautifully and I especially love the wall decal. It's so tranquil with the wall color.

  2. lol, I just had to tell you that I just clicked your link on the birds and blossoms and realized that we have those number cards too! I was going to put them up in the play room or learning room, but I've still yet to do it. They are beautiful sturdy cards.

  3. Oh, I love the idea of those alphabet cards. I would have never thought of using something like that to decorate!

Unfortunately, we are living in an apartment and will only be there for the first 6 months after our baby is born, so I can't really decorate a room like I would want to for the baby. I'm definitely going to keep your posts for ideas though once we move into a more permanent place (and if our little one is a girl!).

  4. Hey Mandi! It's never too late. This is baby number 5 for me and this is the first time I've have the luxury of decorating her room before hand. Can you tell I'm enjoying it?

  5. I have to ask a few questions about the flower cards. 1. How did you attach them to the wall? 2. How long did it take you to place them so perfectly and beautifully spaced? 3. Do you care if I steal your idea since those cards would look beautiful on our similar colored nursery walls and will coordinate very nicely with our flower crib bedding? Usually I come up with my own decorating ideas, but I'm loving this and think it would look great over the baby's dresser.

  6. Karen,
I agonized about how to space them!!! It turned out to be more simple than I thought (most things are). My husband has a small level, like this one (mine is 8 inches long by 1.5 inches wide. I decided on the position of the first one and then placed the level up to the right side of the first one and used the level to space and make sure that the next one was straight up and down, so each one is 1.5 inches apart. I also used the level to space the rows an 1.5 inches below from the top rows and to make sure that I was keeping the ones in the same rows on the same line. It really only took maybe half an hour once I got started. I thought about using 3M poster strips to put them up (I love all the 3M stuff), but when I started playing around with positioning, I found that blue painters tape worked just fine on each of the four corners. I used it to hold them up to decide on the position of the first one and looked at it for a few days. The tape held just fine. So I figured if they fell down, I could always use the poster tabs to put them back up. So far, so good! Hope that helps you figure out how to put them in your little one's room!

  8. I just saw those alphabet cards last week at the Minneapolis Art Institute. I was so tempted to buy them, but I didn't. I wasn't sure how I'd use them. But on Nick's wall, they would be so beautiful!:) Thanks for the idea.

  11. Everything is looking amazing, Charlotte! Absolutely gorgeous :)

I also have a "someday" wall hanging project. I think Cecilia found it today, though. It may have become a "never". I'll have to investigate tomorrow...

    Exciting!

  12. I absolutely LOVE those alphabet cards! And thank you for sharing how you configured them and attached for the wall. I don't think my DS would get into the fairies, but it looks like the same artist has other sets! Thank you for the inspiration!
