Our precious lamb figurine holding it's Alleluia candle sits in the middle of what was the crown of thorns now decorated to celebrate Our Lord's triumph over sin and death.
The children also woke to find a giant bowl filled with bags of goodies made in the shape of Easter symbols; the egg, cross, lamb, peacock, butterfly, bells, bread of life and the lily. Jessica inspired me to also make a booklet to go along with the symbols explaining what their connection is with the Feast of the Resurrection. My plan is to let the children enjoy a symbol a day throughout the octave of Easter much like the twelve days of Christmas candies they enjoyed.

They were most surprised to find that the Easter Angels had not forgotten our little one, who's new nickname, by the way, is Cupcake! A super sweet friend pointed out what a cute blog name that would be and everyone here agreed. The pysanky eggs

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of Easter angels, and I have been not wanting to do the Easter bunny - it was always just kind of avoided. You are such an inspiration!
The Easter Angels were such a better fit for our family than the bunny. From the very beginning, we focused on Jesus' journey through the desert and temptation as a correlation to our Lenten spiritual journey, hence the desert themed Lenten calendars. Matthew 4:11 says, "Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him." We've told our children that after our Lenten journey through "the desert" the Easter Angels come.

ReplyDeleteHi Charlotte, I found much inspiration and ideas from reading your post on the Easter Symbols. I severely lack the talent to create these symbols myself so I went on a hunt to find alternatives either on the internet or Walgreens. I did ok in comparison. At least, they will get the point and still enjoy eating their candy! I posted about it today and linked it back to you. May God continue to bless you this last week of Lent.
