Before anyone tries to tell me I'm crazy for starting back to school so early, let me just ask you...
What else is there to do? : )
We plan to take a page from Karen's playbook and start our year with breakfast out... following Mass, of course. Smiley face pancakes guarantee smiley face kids, right?
Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, pray for us.
St. Thomas More, pray for us.
St. William, pray for us.
Exactly. It's not like the children are playing outside from dawn to dusk. Happy first day of school!
ReplyDeleteI think that makes perfect sense. You can always take a vacation when the weather gets nice.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great school year. BTW, you are not crazy. We start at the end of July:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Back-to-school!
ReplyDeleteIf we homeschool next year we will be starting in August. The sooner you start the more days you have to enjoy the nice spring weather, right?
ReplyDeleteYou're not crazy! We just finished and we start again in 3 weeks. Take time off in the winter when it's nicer to be out. Stay cool. Those are dangerous temps!
ReplyDeleteToday it our first day too!!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to be in such wonderful company!! :-)
Your not crazy, just a homeschool Momma!!!! Make hay {school} while the sunshines LOL! I love the "teacher only" pencil- one of the pitfalls of homeschooling is that we never-ever have sharp pencils that have erasers intact in one pencil- I'm not sure how the children do it, but they manage to ruin every pencil we have!!
ReplyDeletePS we are starting school on the
23rd at our house
We started our homeschool year today, as well. The public schools in my area started school this past Thursday.
ReplyDeleteI pray your school year goes smoothly. :)
Happy School Year!
ReplyDeleteUgh! And here I was throwing myself a pity-party because it was going to be 88!!! for two days running--way to hot for the kids to play outside for more than an hour at a time! ;) You Texans are a whole different breed...
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'm a HUGE fan of year-round schooling. My oldest is in first grade, and she needs to practice her skills every day anyway. Plus, then our rhythm and my husband's match up better. We still only do the 185 days required by IN law... we just have a lot of 3 and 4 day weeks and random vacations through the year...
Oh goodness! I gasped at that weather report! So quickly has my tolerance waned... I don't blame you for starting!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have met up with you while we were in town. I was the sole adult in charge of 8 kids (4 of whom were not mine, making it much harder) for the bulk of the trip. I didn't get out much.
Happy first day of school!
I'd love to start now, too, but it's really hard with the neighbors out of school. However, those little neighbors are so mother-starved that I'm thinking they might like to join us! I'm not sure I'd love it, but it's a thought for next week when we do plan to start and they'll still be out.
ReplyDeleteHappy to know I am not the only mommy hibernating right now!!
ReplyDeleteIs that forecast for this week? Yuck. No wonder I can't seem to cool down.
ReplyDeleteNope, not nuts. I wish I had it more together to start early. But, I haven't finished our learning plans yet and the house is a crazy mess. So I'll be lucky to start in September.
ReplyDeleteHappy 1st day to a new year of learning!
We started today too. I prefer to start in August, so we can be done in the spring when the birds start chirping.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you were from Big D!! I go to St. Thomas Aquinas! That weather outlook is so depressing :( Have a great school year!
ReplyDeleteWe're in the middle of our 3rd week back-to-school. As fellow Dallas area residents - DITTO! You can only make so many trips to the mall play area before you start to go batty.
