I believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival... it ought to be commemorated as a day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bell, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other... ~ John AdamsWe are making plans and gathering supplies for the weekend. Cupcakes to make and decorate, T-shirts to paint, books to read, fireworks to watch.
Here are some links to our past celebrations:

What are your plans?
We'll be doing our traditional round of activities: watch the parade in my hometown, head over to a friend's house in same town for a potluck lunch and catching up, then over to the SIL's (also in the same town) for late afternoon swimming and a potluck supper.
ReplyDeleteNow I know why I gain weight in the summer and lose it in the winter. All our potluck meals happen in the summer. :)
We will be traveling and listening to our patriotic music in the van. We are also excited to have been invited to stay in St. Louis with some home school friends that moved the same year we did.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, America!
