St. Josephine Bakhita

“Be good, love the Lord, pray for those who do not know Him. What a great grace it is to know God!”

As she grew older she experienced long, painful years of sickness. Mother Bakhita continued to witness to faith, goodness and Christian hope. To those who visited her and asked how she was, she would respond with a smile: “As the Master desires.” ~from the Vatican

My sweet Sunshine is celebrating her Confirmation saint's feast day today. Unfortunately, I am battling a little food poisoning (I suspect). Fortunately, Husband picked up some Jell-O Flan aka Creme Caramela, a traditional Sudanese dessert. We will have to put our plans for a Sudanese style meal on hold. Plain pasta sounds tolerable right now, so maybe we will honor the time she spent in Italy, instead.

You can also read my post over at Catholic Cuisine.

And there is a coloring page for St. Josephine in the side bar over there if you feel like printing it out.

  1. Food poisoning? Oh no! Was it the con queso or the chili that did you in?

I'm teasing, of course, having NO idea what you served for the Super Bowl. I will say, however, that there are several pairs of pom poms lying around the house, courtesy of you & your girls.

    Get well soon!

  2. Ya know, Maggie...I thought it was food poisoning, but now that Husband and I have been over it, we've concluded that we both ate exactly the same things (touchdown taco dip and toasted hoagies). He has been fine so I am thinking I might have picked up a little bug. Feeling better now, just a little drained.

Glad your kids had fun making pompoms and I will obey your command! : )
