My grandma taught me well!

Find you a partner,
Someone who's shy.
Chase that partner,
Kiss him on the sly!

The fun part of cleaning out your attic is that you find all of these treasures that you had forgotten about in the five years of their confinement. And the fun part about blogging is that I get to inflict them share them with you.

I made these four kitchen towels and 2 pot holders during one of the many summers I spent on the farm with my grandma and grandpa probably during my middle school years. In all honesty, I think my grandma actually sewed the pot holders together with the bias tape and backing but she taught me how to do all the embroidery. I'm not sure what I am going to do with them. I can't imagine using them as towels. Maybe I should insert them as panels in a quilt. Any ideas?

P.S. Why yes, Husband is very shy!

  2. What a fun discovery!

I like the quilt idea. But I could see that becoming a little intimidating when it came to the actual execution as you'd have to design a quilt around them. That's the kind of project I'd get stuck on for a long time.

You could also frame them. They'd be charming that way too.

  3. Those are so cute. Could you make little cafe curtains out of them? That might be the kind of thing that only looks cute in Martha Stewart Living and doesn't translate to real life. Nice embroidery work!

  5. The quilt idea seems perfect. Or, you could add to them and make them place mats maybe? Or an apron?

  6. Do you need a valance at your kitchen window?

Very cute -- they should be on display.

  7. I was going to suggest a window valance as well.

Or as panels in an apron that you rarely wear.

Framing them is also a great idea.

  8. All the above, definitely. These are adorable! What a great memory of time spent with your Grandma. I'd want them somewhere where I could see them, for sure.

  9. We got these towels for our wedding some 14 years ago this week. I love them but well, after 14 years they are a bit holy(hee hee) and worn. It was so delightful to see them on your blog!
