Clarification

Maybe it was the political nature of my post yesterday, a topic of conversation that I don't ever enter into, or maybe the fine weather in other parts of the world kept people outdoors and away from their computers, or maybe the length of the post made everyone's eyes blur, but just in case the faint sound of cricket chirping I heard coming from yesterday's post had anything to do with the opinions of the candidate who was holding the rally, let me just reiterate that we attended solely for the presentation on the election process and to witness that process in action. I can't say that had it been a pro-abortion candidate I still would have gone, but any other pro-life candidate would have met with approval enough to justify the experience to me no matter what their opinions on other subjects were.

I posted what I thought was a tremendous experience for my home educated children and thought that other people might like to know that some members of the younger generations of Americans are cheering us on! That's all. : )

P.S. Not complaining about the number of comments but rather just afraid that I put my foot in my mouth without realizing it. See! This is why I stay away from politics.

  1. Aw, I hate it when I write something that I think is of interest and nobody comments. Then the lamest posts get tons of comments. Makes you wonder.

  2. I agree with Lori. I oddly received a lot of comments when I posted on the KFC "Bowl". My thoughtfully written, instructive posts get nothing! I read your post twice yesterday and enjoyed - in fact it led to some interesting conversations in the car and a little envy that we didn't think to do something like that. We were just crazy, crazy busy so I didn't comment. I have 130 emails in my inbox right now and a sink full of dirty dishes. It was nothing personal. But I feel the same way at times. :)

  3. You gals are so sweet! I should post another clarification. It wasn't just the lack of comments on that post but also the same reaction to the same subject in a different forum. I didn't think my post was very well written, but rather, I thought it was very "RAH RAH HOMESCHOOL!!!" which I thought would excite a lot of people. When it didn't, I wasn't offended but rather self conscious that I had entered into a battlefield that I wasn't aware of. I seriously am sooooooo not a political junkie! I thought I had put my foot in my mouth without realizing it! Maybe I did again! :( Where is a chocolate bar and a Sunday when you need one! :(

  4. LOL! Matilda, you are so cute! I read your post here and at the forum and thought it was great.I didn't comment because I was so jealous that you got to go out and do such cool things while I am stuck inside with a bunch of raging cases of the flu.Wah! Poor me!LOL!

I also really shy away from anything political in public if I can because I really don't do well with controversy.I have even deleted controversial posts immediately after posting them because I chickened out. Wimpy, I know, but hey, that's just who I am!LOL!
Also, like Lori and Jennifer said, I am constantly baffled by which posts get comments and which don't. The public, she is a fickle mistress, eh?

  5. I think a lot of folks are just really busy and trying to be diligent in their Lenten resolutions. There are always less comments this time of year. I know I'm trying to cut back on my computer time and rarely comment anywhere. I wouldn't take it personally, or even think that you offended anyone... most especially at the 4real forum. Those gals are great!

    :)

  6. Ah, Matilda, I just love you. I thought your post yesterday was GREAT. I wish I had commented, but alas, I shouldn't even be on the computer right now. Our house has been turned upside down again by another one of my wild "let's rearrange and paint two rooms in the house this weekend" ideas...it's Wednesday now and we're STILL not finished! :)

I think it's awesome that you and your kids got to experience something like that, though. And I LOVE that you all got cheered, how cool is that?! The potty incident totally cracked me up, too, because I could just SOOO see that happening to me. Wouldn't it just figure? Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience with all of us!

  7. Well, thanks to you love ladies and a sweet call from a friend, I am now taking a deep breath and a sigh. I was truly not offended by the lack of comments but rather the lack of comments on this one subject where my strongest feelings of inadequacy can be found. Well, politics and the proper use of commas, but anyway....

Thanks for the encouragement! And Theresa, that envy is coming right back at you when it is 112 degrees in the shade at my house and you're posting pictures of polar bears and penguins!!! : )

  8. That should be "loveLY ladies"... Add spelling to the list, too!

  9. Since we are moving back to DC, and since we lived there 3 years ago and know the ropes, so to speak, I know that a Presidental Inauguration is open to the public. I've already discussed with my husband me taking the older children to the event(he went 3 years ago with his sister - my turn). I have no idea WHO will be inaugurated, but it doesn't matter. We'll be going to witness history.

Matilda, don't apologize for exposing your kids to the world.

I dragged my kids 3 years ago (prior to the election) to a rally led by Laura Bush. Thrilling.

  10. I'm like you... I generally stay away from politics, mainly because I don't know enough about it all! However, I think that it was so cool that you were able to take your kids on that field trip!! There are so few opportunities like that in our neck of the woods.

  11. Matilda,

I wanted to leave a comment on your last post and on the one in the forum, but well, time got away from me. I love your blog and it always makes me want to drive up there where you are and meet you (one day!!!).

    God bless!

  12. Well, I was terribly offended, and planned to never talk to you again... But then The Prof complimented my "beard" tonight, so I'll be your friend again. ;)
